The size, types, and emotional impact of birthday cards depend upon who you are getting birthday cards for. Prices vary for cards, but you can purchase fun and inexpensive ones at bargain discount stores such as Walmart. An option for specialty shops, of which Hallmark is an example, also exists if you are in the market for something more expensive or flashier.

Another place to buy your printed birthday cards is the internet, as online stores allow you several options to buy, including bulk or single cards. E-cards are another alternative, as they allow you to send cards electronically through your recipient’s email and many of these allow you to add a personalized message. You may be able to send your friend musical or animated greetings through these free sites, though card sending privileges usually are only granted after a registration at the site.

Hand made birthday cards are favored by many because of their personal touch and are easy to buy at flea markets or craft stores. Costco and Sam’s Club (as well as other wholesale clubs) offer them sometimes too. You would think that handmade cards would be expensive, but they can be quite reasonably priced. Frequently, boxes of the cards will sell from around ten to thirty dollars.

These days birthday cards come in all shapes and sizes; it is not difficult to find examples related to every child’s age from one to eighteen. You can also find cards related to every landmark age, such as age twenty-one, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, and eighty. You might be able to find cards celebrating ninety and one-hundred, but it is far more likely that you will have to special order those types of cards, as people typically do not live past 80.

Aging can be a hard process, and many people do not realize how much difference a humorous card can make on a person, particularly older men.

Other birthday cards capitalize upon a younger market; some through sexy cover models, alcohol or crude gestures, and others through cards aimed at a younger population. Disney cards exist, for example, for younger children that have themes of Disney Princesses, Cars, Aladdin, and other Disney movie favorites. Disney in particular specializes in making their cards fun; Disney cards are typically musical or pop-ups. The best way to learn about birthday cards is to visit the card isle at any department store, discount store, or Hallmark store.
