A Brief Study of Yeast Infections

Many people around the world plague their chronic fungal infection for years. Yeast infection is caused due to a significant increase in the amount of yeast in some areas like mouth and vagina. Generally, children, women are effected by such infections. It is least common among men. Growth of yeast in humans is limited to their immune systems and other microorganism present at the same location. The yeast infections can be developed around dentures, under the breast, vagina, and lower abdomen and beneath skin folds. Factors contributing to vaginal yeast infection are pregnancy, diabetes, and the use oral contraceptives, steroids, and antibiotics.

The most common symptoms include itchiness in and around vagina accompanied with burning sensation and discharge of a thick substance like cottage cheese. Symptoms of a mouth yeast infection include white patchy sores on the mouth those if scrapped may bleed. Most of the women resort to creams, suppositories, and other “medical” remedies to cure infection but this is not a permanent cure. Mouth infection can be treated by:

• Drinking cool liquids
• Rinsing mouth with warm water
• Use of Gentian liquid but according to doctor’s prescription.

Home remedies such as use of yogurt, garlic, Apple-cider vinegar is much effective and have a long lasting results.
